Life in a Rural Community

Citizens work, live, and have fun in rural communities in unique ways. First, there are many types of jobs that people have in rural towns. For example, because there is so much flat land, many people work as farmers and grow corn or soybeans. Additionally, people also work as teachers, police officers, or donut bakers. Next, people in rural communities live in houses, apartments, or condos in neighborhoods and often have yards. For transportation, citizens drive cars, ride bikes, or walk. Lastly, there are many opportunities for having fun in rural communities even though they are small. As a matter of fact, rural communities often have county fairs every summer where you can see tractor pulls, pageants, or demolition derbies, or contests where you crash into other cars on purpose. In addition, rural communities often get together for parades or high school sporting events. Some examples of rural communities are Geneseo, Atkinson, Colona, or Cleveland, IL. These are some of the ways that folks work, live, and have fun in rural communities.
