How to Plan a Vacation

I am an expert on planning vacations. Let me explain how it works! First, when you are going on a trip, you must plan on where you will stay and sleep. For example, if you are not camping, you will likely need to book a hotel room. Be sure that you reserve your room in advance so you don’t get there and find out they ran out of rooms. Likewise, check out reviews and photos of hotels online so you do not pick a bad one. Next, you will need to consider transportation. If you aren’t driving to your break from work, you can rent a car or use public transportation, such as taxis, Uber, or the subway. Sometimes, walking is a great way to get around too if your activities aren’t too spread out. Finally, it is essential to plan the activities you want to do on your vacation. Some fun things can be pretty popular, so make sure you buy tickets ahead of time. Also, don’t forget to pack the proper clothing for what you will be doing (such as swimming trunks or a backpack). For your next vacation,

Life in a Rural Community

Citizens work , live , and have fun in rural communities in unique ways. First , there are many types of jobs that people have in rural towns. For example , because there is so much flat land, many people work as farmers and grow corn or soybeans. Additionally , people also work as teachers, police officers, or donut bakers. Next , people in rural communities live in houses, apartments, or condos in neighborhoods and often  have yards. For transportation , citizens drive cars, ride bikes, or walk. Lastly,  there are many opportunities for having fun in rural communities even though they are small. As a matter of fact , rural communities often have county fairs every summer where you can see tractor pulls, pageants, or demolition derbies, or contests where you crash into other cars on purpose. In addition,  rural communities often get together for parades or high school sporting events. Some examples of rural communities are Geneseo, Atkinson, Colona, or Cleveland, IL. These are some o

Me and Noah

Noah and I are alike in many ways, but we are also two very different individuals. First of all, Noah and I are both boys. Next, we both like waffles as well as syrup. Finally, Noah and I are alike because we are members of a third grade classroom community. However, we are also quite different from each other. For example , I am a grown man with a family, however Noah is a child. Also, Noah is obsessed with video games (like seriously, all the time), but  I am interested in football and pro wrestling. Noah said, "Video games are like totally my favorite thing in the UNIVERSE!"  Finally, Noah cannot grow a beard  as opposed to me who shaves daily. As you can see, Noah and I have a lot in common, but we're also quite different from each other. πŸ‘

The Teacher Who Played Christmas Music in November

Once upon a time, there was a third grade teacher who played Christmas music in early November. Two of the students had different opinions about this. Ella loved hearing Christmas carols, and she wished they could be played all year long. On the other hand, Kanon wished his teacher would not play these songs, because he knew that he would already have to listen to them in December. Ella wore Christmas clothes to school everyday, because she loved it so much. Kanon preferred to wear normal clothes instead, as he knew he would soon have to wear an itchy wooly Christmas sweater in December. "Bah humbug!" he would exclaim, because he was tired of Christmas... and it wasn't even Thanksgiving yet!

My Goals

These are my #BigTimeGoals for this year in 3rd grade: I want to find ways to improve our wikis. I will try to ask my students about their day more often. I will give feedback as quickly as possible, so my students know how they are doing. I will try to have lunch with my badge earners by the end of this week. I will make more fun math projects for my class to do this year. I will send out notes at the beginning of November so that we can do our annual gingerbread house project. Side note: The students have to write stories about them afterwards. #LiteracyGoals I will help my students write and blog in other ways that just paragraphs. #NumberedLists #PhotoEssays #Hypertext I will try to tidy up our classroom (with my students' help) more often.

Bats are Disgusting

In my opinion, bats are gross and disgusting creatures. First off, they have pointy little bony fingers in their wings. In fact, they even have little toenails and fingernails on these fingers that are curvy and remind me of a witch. Next, bats eat really weird foods such as insects and blood. Basically, that doesn't sound like an animal I want to hang out with at all. Finally, bats have weird flappy wings and hairy bodies. When it comes down to it, I'm only into cuddly animals, so bats just don't interest me. I feel that bats are really icky and I prefer that they stay out of my house!

The Cotton Candy Argument

One day at recess, Ida and I were walking through the hallway to the playground when we spotted a random bag of pink cotton candy. Ida said, "Yo! We should totally eat that! It looks yummy-tastic!" I replied, "No way! That could be gross or dangerous. We do not know who put it there." Ida tried to outrun me, but I caught her and she finally calmed down and came to her senses. We decided to throw away the bag and go out to recess. The end.

The Destructive Thunderstorm

On Tuesday in Geneseo, there was a huge thunderstorm. When the storm was coming in, the sky turned dark gray and almost looked black. It was scary, dude! Lightning flashed in the sky, and big fat raindrops fell loudly on my roof. I looked out the window and saw that the strong winds had broken a limb from my tree onto my fence. The limb was hanging over my fence and had broken a Mediacom cable line, which was hanging on my lawn like dirty laundry. I heard the gusts of wind rushing against my house. When I stepped outside to see the damage, I smelled the musty, humid air from the rain that had fallen. After calling my insurance agent and tree removal service, I was so stressed out that I decided to eat some yummy chocolate ice cream, which made me feel a little bit better. That is what the thunderstorm was like. I hope we do NOT have a thunderstorm for a long time!😾😰

First Day

Today was the first day of school. I worked with 24 new third graders. Let me tell you...they were awesome! We started our day by learning morning routines. Then, they went to specials and solved some math problems about me when they returned. After lunch, we read Superfudge. They thought it was hilarious! Finally, we made these blog posts. I can't wait until these kiddos come back tomorrow for day 2!
